HEARTSONGS
Review by Ray Montana ,Country Music Capital News
"Well known in the Sydney bluegrass scene, Heartsongs is the third, and long awaited, release for husband and wife duo HUNTER AND SUZY OWENS. Heartsongs was recorded live in a studio setting and features a classic bluegrass lineup of fiddle, banjo, mandolin, acoustic guitar and double bass with the inclusion of dobro. The listener’s attention is captured right from the catchy opener, Heartache Blues. These songs sound as though they have come down from the mountain and draw upon traditional Appalachian sounds. Each song is a well-composed short story sung by a true storyteller. Hunter’s voice is warm and clear with a light twang, perfectly suited to this style of music, and is complimented by Suzy’s pure harmonies. Other great tracks include the instrumental Cottonmouth Creek and Ellie Mae, the tale of a lover crossed who takes revenge. This album is an example of fine Australian bluegrass and is a must have addition to any real traditional country fan’s music collection."
